We have found that the best time to do the Safari Ride is first thing in the morning as you will generally see more animals, but this is widely known so Disney cast members will try and direct you to other rides when you enter the park. We recommend that you ignore them and head straight to the Safari Ride. You can always do the safari again in late afternoon when the queues have died down.
Since the opening of Everest, the crowd will generally split before they reach the Tree of Life and branch right towards Asia to ride Everest or go straight on to the Safari Ride. Both are worth picking up a FastPass for so do that relatively early in the day.

Alternatively, at the beginning of your holiday when getting up early is no hardship, check the opening time, arrive early, then, if your ticket allows you "Park Hopping" move to another park when the Animal Kingdom starts to get busy. The Animal Kingdom is a huge park but the pedestrian areas are relatively small and the lush vegetation makes it the most hot and humid park.
However do not miss "Its Tough to be a Bug" or "Festival of the Lion King". The original "Countdown to Extinction", was renamed "Dinosaur" & will also be popular with the children. The latest show, Finding Nemo, the Musical combines puppetry with high-tech effects.
